When wearing polarized sunglasses, viewing angles may be restricted, further affecting the visual experience.
Rainbow Patterns and Screen Blackout Issues
- Rainbow Patterns
The rainbow pattern phenomenon arises from the birefringence properties of touch panel materials. When touch panels use PET (ITO film) substrates, light passing through the material splits into two slightly different beams due to the birefringence effect. When viewed through polarized sunglasses, these beams create rainbow patterns, negatively impacting the visual experience.
- Screen Blackout Issues
Screen blackout issues primarily occur in touch panels with glass substrates. When wearing polarized sunglasses, if the polarizing filter of the sunglasses is at a 90-degree angle to the polarizer on the LCD, the light is completely blocked, causing the screen to appear black and preventing content display.
